Environment Agency November 2025 Update on Flooding

Latest EA update

Published: 5 December 2025

Latest Update from the Environment Agency (EA) below. The Parish Council has a conference call arranged in December with the office of our MP, Jacob Collier, and the EA, to discuss arrangements and timing for a village meeting about flooding in early 2026. Further details of this will be advised in due course.

Dear Rolleston Parish Council,
Our Strategic Business Case for flood risk management in Rolleston has now been reviewed by ourselves, and we are working with the consultants to finalise the report. We hope that any amendments will be complete by our meeting on December 10th, but if not, we will have a good idea of the overall findings to share and discuss.
This week, the EA field team and I undertook a watercourse walkover and identified sections that require vegetation management – overall, things are not looking too bad, but we noted several areas where we can trim back and keep clear. We are going to prioritise this work and aim to have it completed by Christmas to ensure good conveyance for the rest of the winter. We assessed the mud and silt build up at the ford, and at this time, do not deem it to pose an immediate flood risk. We will keep a watching brief on this and re-assess if anything changes.
I hope that the village was not too badly affected in Storm Claudia a few weeks ago, but as always, please keep us informed of any issues.
Kind Regards,
Tom Ellis
