Tree Maintenance works on The Croft early October 2026 – Felling of two diseased lime trees

Earlier in 2026 the Parish Council commissioned a report into the health of all trees across the village on Parish Council land. Unfortunately this survey indicated that 2 of the lime trees on The Croft, running alongside of The Brook, had signs of disease and decay. Following this report it was decided to commission a more detailed report, not just of the 2 trees indicated but of all 7 Lime trees .

A professional Arboriculturalist was engaged who carried out a thorough inspection, including drilling into the trees to examine the core. Sadly a 3rd tree was also identified as severely diseased and in need of felling. Whilst the outcome is disappointing our first priority has to be the safety of residents and therefore we have taken the difficult decision to remove all 3 affected trees. The remaining 4 will all require some remedial work but it is hoped that following this they should recover and survive for many years to come. In order to give these trees time and space to fully recover a decision on replacements will be made at a later date.

Tree surgeons will be on site early October to remove the first 2 lime trees in accordance with the ESBC approved planning application – ref P/2026/00656.
