September Update from the Environment Agency

Latst Update from the EA

Published: 7 September 2026

We continue to receive completed consent forms from residents who have registered an interest in the proposed Property Flood Resilience (PFR) scheme. This means we are now able to progress towards arranging the property suitability surveys, which we expect to begin shortly. The surveys will provide important information to help inform the next stage of the project and the Full Business Case.
We have also recently looked into the build-up of silt at the Brookside ford. Following an assessment of the area, we do not currently consider the silt bank to present an immediate flood risk. Although there is a noticeable build-up of sediment, there remains good capacity within the wider channel around the silt bank. Compared with the channel immediately upstream and downstream, the cross-sectional area at the ford remains greater, and during higher flows the silt bank would become submerged. We therefore expect any influence on
flood levels to be relatively minor and localised.
The Environment Agency’s field teams will continue to monitor the Rolleston Brook and undertake maintenance where there is an identified or immediate flood risk
